SPELLING

Be aware of your spelling.

Boolean search operators

+	A leading plus sign indicates that this word must be present in every record returned.
-	A leading minus sign indicates that this word must not be present in any record returned.
( )	Parentheses are used to group words into sub expressions. Parenthesized groups can be nested.
“ "	A phrase that is enclosed within double quote ('"') characters matches only records that contain the phrase literally, as it was typed. Phrase searching requires only that matches contain exactly the same words as the phrase and in the same order.
*	If you want to search for part of a word or a whole word that may have several endings, use a "wildcard," an asterisk (*). It will improve search results and save you time.

Boolean Search Examples

allergy hypersensitivity	Finds records that contain at least one of the two words.
+diabetes +prevalence	Finds records that contain both words.
+diabetes mellitus	Finds records that contain the word "diabetes'', but rank records higher if they also contain "mellitus''.
+diabetes -insipidus	Finds records that contain the word "diabetes'' but not "insipidus'.
osteo*	Finds records that contain words such as "osteoarthritis", "osteoporosis", "osteoblastoma'', "osteocampsia'', or "osteocachexia''.
"current treatment"	Finds records that contain the exact phrase "current treatment'' (for example, records that contain "Current treatment of asthma'' but not "current herbal treatment of asthma''). Note that the '"' characters that surround the phrase are operator characters that delimit the phrase. They are not the quotes that surround the search string itself.
+depression +(child children)	Finds records that contain the words “depression' and “child'', or "children'' .
